WELCOME TO DORMSTON

Dormston is a very successful school which enjoys a high reputation in the local community and beyond.  We are particularly proud of our latest achievement which is to gain Specialist Status and in September 2006 the school became Dormston School – a Mathematics and Computing College.

We believe that one of the reasons for the school’s success is the number of partnerships we have been able to forge. Very important, we want to have a real partnership with the children who attend the school.

Head Teacher

This means that we try to create an environment in which children are encouraged to become independent, taking responsibility for their own learning and the care of the school site. We know that students flourish in a disciplined but supportive atmosphere in which they feel happy and secure and this is what we aim to provide.

We also recognise the critical role parents play and so we try to be responsive and to develop effective channels of communication between home and school. Finally we know that learning is not only a school-based activity and are keen to develop relationships, not only with local primary schools, but also the local community and representatives of industry. Our work with Mathematics and Computing will be key in this area.

We look forward to welcoming your sons and daughters to a school where the atmosphere is one of hard work, warmth and organisation and we would welcome the opportunity to share with you in helping to develop well-educated and well-rounded young people.
