The school encourages learning outside the classroom and we have a range of extra curricular activities.

Numerous sporting activities, which include basketball, netball, football and athletics, run for all ages throughout the year. Many of these activities are team-based and we have enjoyed success in the league as well as having individuals who play at county level. There are also opportunities for all in Dance: Hip Hop, Cheer Leading and Key Stage Four Dance club to name a few.

In Year 7, students attend Science club and a Technology club and Year 9 formed a debating group last year.

Students can access various instrumental lessons through the Dudley Music Service. We are very proud of the numbers of students who participate in our school productions, both on stage and behind the scenes. ‘Grease’, ‘Fame’ and ‘Dracula’ have all taken place recently in the Mill Theatre on site as have two Performing Arts Evenings, one for Keystage 3 pupils and one for those studying Arts subjects at GCSE level.

For Year 9 students and Key Stage Four pupils, staff lead revision classes and coursework support groups. Pupils with additional needs are encouraged to attend a number of special sessions. (See Learning Support)

A number of our Year 10 students decide that they would like to hold the extra responsibility of being a Senior. From this team we also choose a Head Boy and Girl and Deputies to work closely with staff and students.
There is an active School Council at Dormston and each year students are voted on to School Council by their peers.
