The care and welfare of our pupils is very high on our agenda. All staff hold responsibilities but most important is the form tutor who will:
- Get to know each individual in the form
- Help each child to settle in and feel confident
- Ensure children establish a productive and effective pattern of work
- Keep a look out for any problems or worries pupils may encounter
- Talk and listen to each pupil
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, homework, school uniform and general behaviour
Each year group has a year leader who is responsible for learning within the year group. In 2008/9 leaders are as follows:-
- Year 7 Mrs Lorraine Jones
- Year 8 Mrs Candy Woods
- Year 9 Mr Chris Dudley
- Year 10 Mr Trevore Gardner
- Year 11 Mrs Sue Lauchlan
Mrs Lorraine Jones remains Year Leader for Year 7 each academic year. At the end of Year 7 each academic year, another Year Leader will look after the pastoral care of students from Year 8 through to their graduation in Year 11.
At Dormston we have a duty of care and we endeavour to protect all our pupils. If at any time we feel that a child’s welfare has been or is being compromised, then we may wish to discuss the situation rationally and sensitively with parents. |
