Dormston Sports & Arts Centre

The Dormston Arts & Sports Centre is the first and, to date, the only lottery project in the United Kingdom which has been funded by the Arts & Sports Councils and is testament to the drive and commitment of the school to deliver its ethos of Progress through Partnership. The new facilities boast a 350 auditorium style seated theatre, an art gallery, a café/bar, comprehensive fitness facilities, a sports hall and a floodlit outdoor sports area for tennis, netball, hocked and five-a-side football. These state of the art facilities offer pupils and members of the community a wonderful opportunity to work together and to develop and appreciate artistic and sports talent.
Sports facilities provide pupils with a natural link into a more structured club environment outside the school day. The Centre’s own work, supported by links with Dudley Borough Council’s Sports Development Department, provides pupils with the opportunity to progress from school, to junior youth and into adult sports clubs. This, like the arts facilities, not only promotes high standards of performance, but also introduces pupils to the local and arts/sports communities and fosters all round development.

Community Learning

The Dormston Centre runs a wide range of community learning classes from Soft Furnishings to Yoga, First Aid to Photography.   Many of these are traditional Adult Education classes but there are also a growing number of family learning courses aimed at adults and children learning together.   The Dormston Centre also operates its own Youth Theatre group.   Further details of the Community Learning Programme can be obtained from The Dormston Centre.   Telephone 01384-816389.
